Optimising your battery and rangeUpdated 2 months ago
A few simple habits can significantly extend your battery life and help you consistently get the most out of your e-scooter.
Why battery care matters
Your scooter's battery is made up of multiple cells that work together to store and deliver power. Over time, these cells can become slightly unbalanced, especially if the scooter is frequently used on short rides or topped up without full charges. Allowing the battery to run low occasionally and then fully charging it helps the cells stay balanced. This improves overall performance and extends battery life. For new scooters, this is especially useful: batteries are often stored in a low-power mode and a few full charge cycles will help unlock their best performance.
Charging best practices
- Top-ups are fine: you can charge the battery at any time without damaging the cells.
- Full charges are essential: regularly charge the scooter fully until the charger light turns green.
- Balance the battery: occasionally ride until the battery is nearly empty, then give it a complete charge. This keeps the cells in sync.
- Charge indoors: charge at room temperature and avoid very hot or cold environments.
- Do not leave charging overnight unattended: the charger light will turn from red to green once the battery is fully charged.
Long-term storage
- Store the scooter indoors in a dry place at room temperature (15-25 °C), away from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Charge the battery fully at least once a month during extended storage.
- Wipe away moisture from the deck, stem, and charging port before storage or charging.
